Laptops-but it looks like AMD may have just barely met its second quarter deadline
25th Jul 2011

This is a Chromebook, though, and one of the defining aspects of a Chromebook is that it doesn’t really work without Internet access. (It’s possible to listen to music using the bare-bones media player, and Google is working on limited-function offline versions of part of the Google Apps suite.)

I I would just use Google Docs instead of my favorite word HSTNN-OB41 processor, Scrivener, and something like the Web-based graphics suite Aviary instead of Photoshop.

The Series 5′s HP Pavilion tx1200 battery life was terrific, too–if it didn’t hit Samsung’s estimate of “up to” 8.5 hours on a charge, it came mighty close.

Trying to do graphics for Technologizer using a Web app, however, was a fundamentally unsatisfying HSTNN-DB94 experience. Aviary is impressive in many ways, as are competitors such as Google’s own Picnik. But none of them are as swift as a good image editor that’s a piece of traditional software.

This idea is so obvious that I’d be staggered if it hasn’t occurred to people within Google. And if the HSTNN-UB37 company decides that two mobile operating systems are one too many, isn’t it clear which one will go and which one will stay?

ASUS definitely wants to be a big contender with Android. The Eee Pad Transformer is probably the most popular tablet and they have announced some interesting devices for later this year.

Now news has come out that they may be planning a 13-inch notebook and the HP Pavilion tx1300 Battery power and pricing could be more attractive than the Transformer’s. This is strictly a rumor, but launch plans supposedly have already been made and it will pack a NVIDIA processor. For the processor itself, only quad-core ARM SOCs were mentioned. Could this be the Kal-El quad core chip that is expected in August?

When AMD announced these, the company said they were shipping and would appear in more than more than 150 notebooks and desktops “throughout the second quarter of 2011 and beyond.” To date, it’s been tough to find these systems-even though HP HSTNN-UB41 Toshiba and Gateway all announced A-Series laptops-but it looks like AMD may have just barely met its second quarter deadline.

HP HSTNN-XB37 will offer the A-Series in 11 consumer and business laptops. The Pavilion dv6z Quad Edition, is available for order direct from HP (but with a build date of July 13), as well as at Best Buy and Office Depot. The 15-inch laptop starts at $649.99 with the A6-3400M quad-core, 6GB of memory, 640GB hard drive and a Blu-ray player.

The smaller dv4 and larger dv7 are not yet available. The budget Pavilion g-series is not yet available direct from HP 516479-121 Battery , but the 15-inch g6 is available online from Best Buy, Staples and Walmart. The official starting price for the g6 is $498, but Staples is offering a configuration with the A4-3300M, 4GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive for $349.99 after rebates. The 14-inch g4 and 17-inch g7 are not available yet either direct from HP or in stores.
