How can I upload photos more quickly?

As digital camera get better, the size of the photos that they take get bigger, and slower to upload. If you are using Internet Explorer to access your members area then you can use our Image Loader tool which will compress your photos before uploading them. Unfortunately, some Internet cafes do not allow this tool to be installed, or will not use Internet Explorer as their browser. In these situations, if you find that it takes too long to upload your photos manually, then you can compress your photos yourself using a photo resizing tool .

There are many applications available on the web which can be used to shrink photo size. If you do not have one then we recommend a program called PhotoWorker. It is only 1MB in size so can be easily copied to a disk and used in any internet cafe. Importantly, it is also shareware so doesn't cost to use. Download it here.

Once you have PhotoWorker, you can shrink your photos to the most optimum size for use on Blogaboo.com using the following instructions:

  • Run PhotoWorker.exe
  • Click on the 'Select Files' tab
  • Click on 'Add Files' or 'Add Folder' to choose your photos
  • Click on the 'Resize Options' tab
  • Choose a destination folder to put the shrunk photos
  • Select conversion type 'Maximum width and height'
  • Set width to 800
  • Set height to 800
  • Click the 'Start' tab

Now all the smaller photos will be in your chosen destination directory and hopefully uploading them will be much much faster! One point to remember though is that you'll still want to keep your original photos to keep the quality you took them with.
